The Politics department has been renamed as Politcal Science. The Political Literacy general education home page is required reading. It explains politics as it pertains to the individual not the collective. It teaches how to think independently and form unbiased opinions that are resistant to manipulation or fake news. People who are Serious about Political Participation Need to Read it.
Purpose
The purpose is to educate citizens on how to form world views that are free from outside influence. Instead of "Hi, I am a politician, do you like me? Will you help me defeat my opponent?" the frame of thinking shifts to "what are my values and who better identifies with them?". In order for politics to be meaningful people have to participate at the local level and understand the role government plays in their personal lives.
Start with with identifying your personal struggles then see if government can help you directly or not. If they can, work with them. If they cannot, abandon them and solve your own problems. Once you have solved your own problems, generalize the solution for all people and run for office, or build community based initiatives to educate your fellow citizens.Lessons Learned
