Relative Frequency

Economics Glossary – Malone Global University

Definition

Relative frequency is the proportion of times an outcome occurs compared with the total number of observations, often used as an estimate of probability in repeated trials.

Why It Matters

It connects observed data to probability and is widely used in statistics and forecasting.

Example

If 15 out of 60 customers buy a product, the relative frequency is 15/60 = 0.25.
