Reservation Rate

Economics Glossary – Malone Global University

Definition

A reservation rate is the minimum price, wage, or interest rate a person or firm is willing to accept before agreeing to a transaction, such as taking a job or lending money.

Why It Matters

Reservation rates help determine whether trades happen and shape market supply, especially in labor markets.

Example

A worker will not accept a job offer below $22 per hour, which is their reservation wage.
