Eazy-E, born Eric Lynn Wright in Compton, California, was a central figure in the rise of West Coast gangsta rap. Initially involved in local street entrepreneurship, he later transitioned into music, using his resources and vision to help launch one of hip-hop’s most influential groups. In the mid-1980s, Eazy-E co-founded Ruthless Records, which became a key platform for emerging West Coast talent.
