Overview
Milton Jones, Raymond Canty, and other defendants were indicted in 2001 on charges arising from an organized Detroit drug ring known as the Dog Pound. Federal appellate records describe drug distribution, robberies of rival traffickers, and homicide allegations connected to the enterprise.
Charges and Plea
The government initially pursued very serious charges, including murder allegations against Jones and Canty. Jones eventually entered a plea to operating a continuing criminal enterprise, and other counts were dismissed pursuant to the plea agreement.
Sentence
Jones received a 30-year federal sentence. Later appellate litigation addressed his sentencing and compassionate-release efforts.
