Overview
Dwayne “Wonderful Wayne” Davis is identified by the University of Michigan’s Detroit policing history project as one of the principal early leaders of Young Boys Incorporated. YBI became nationally notable for its hierarchical organization, use of young street sellers, branded heroin packets, and efforts to obtain narcotics outside older Detroit supply arrangements.
Role in YBI
The historical record describes Davis as part of the leadership group that included Milton “Butch” Jones, Raymond “Baby Ray” Peoples, and Mark “Block” Marshall. For encyclopedia purposes, Davis should be treated as an early organizational leader rather than merged with later YBI leadership phases that federal appellate records center more heavily on Jones.
