Overview
Vernon Lucas was one of Frank Lucas’s brothers and is one of the family members whose role can be established directly from appellate testimony rather than later family lore.
Role in the Network
The North Carolina Court of Appeals recorded evidence that Vernon began working for Ike Atkinson in 1973–1974. He sent large sums of money to Bangkok, personally carried money to Thailand, received heroin through the mail, delivered it to Frank Lucas for New York distribution, and traveled to the Cayman Islands to deposit money.
