综合任务一:我的生活变化
Chapter Overview and Learning Objectives
Chapters 1 through 4 built an expanded personal profile: a fuller picture of your daily life, your relationships and community, the habits that have changed over time, and a connected personal story anchored in the past. This chapter does not teach anything new. Instead, it asks you to bring those four chapters together into one integrated task: a connected account of your life and how it has changed, moving from who you are now, to the people around you, to what used to be different, to how you got here.
By the end of this chapter, you will be able to:
- Combine self-introduction, relationship description, habit contrast, and personal narrative into one connected account.
- Use 的 modification, reference cohesion, and topic chains to keep a longer connected text clear.
- Distinguish 不 and 没/没有 negation accurately across different sentence types.
- Integrate change-of-state 了, perfective 了, and experiential 过 correctly in the same passage.
- Sequence events and stages of change using 以前/现在, 后来, and 然后.
- Complete an integrated listening, reading, speaking, and writing task at the Unit I level with pragmatically appropriate register.
This is an assessment chapter. No new grammar, no new character set, and no new pronunciation target is introduced here. Every task below draws only on material from Chapters 1–4 and prerequisite Volume I systems.
Communication Scenario
The "我的故事" exchange group is compiling a small collection called "我的生活变化" (Changes in My Life), where each member submits one connected profile that introduces who they are today and traces how they got there. Your task this chapter is to produce your own complete entry and to interact with two other members' entries.
- You will listen to 小林's spoken update about her life now and what has changed.
- You will read 陈先生's written "我的生活变化" entry.
- You will write your own connected "我的生活变化" entry.
- You will speak with a partner, introducing your changes and asking about theirs.
Unit I Review Map
This table shows which chapter each assessed system comes from. Nothing on this list is new; all of it should feel familiar from Chapters 1 through 4.
| System | Introduced In | What It Lets You Do |
|---|---|---|
| Paragraph expansion, topic chains | Chapter 1 | Keep a longer self-description connected rather than a list of separate sentences. |
| 的 modification, reference cohesion, titles | Chapter 2 | Describe people and relationships clearly without repeating full names every time. |
| 不/没 expansion, change expressions, time phrases | Chapter 3 | Contrast 以前 and 现在 and mark a shift with change-of-state 了. |
| 了/过 integration, 后来/然后, …的时候 | Chapter 4 | Narrate a connected sequence of past events and anchor them in time. |
Recycled Volume I systems — greetings, basic self-introduction, numbers and dates, 是/有/在 sentences, basic question types — are used throughout this chapter without re-explanation.
Listening Assessment
If no speaker is available, this is a Listening Script for Independent Use. Read it aloud yourself, slowly at first, then at a natural pace. Any spoken model should be verified by a fluent Mandarin speaker before being treated as a pronunciation standard.
小林的更新 — Xiao Lin's Update:
大家好,我是小林。我现在的生活跟以前很不一样。以前我一个人住,也不太认识附近的人。后来我搬家了,搬到了一个朋友很多的地方。现在我认识了很多新朋友,也常常跟他们一起吃饭。我以前不喜欢运动,但是最近开始每天早上跑步,慢慢习惯了。我大学的时候学了法语,然后决定学中文,我去过中国一次,是去年。现在我每天都练习说中文,我觉得我的生活变得更有意思了。
听力问题 — Listening comprehension questions:
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| 小林以前的生活跟现在有什么不一样? (How is Xiao Lin's life now different from before?) | ______ |
| 她后来搬到了什么样的地方? (What kind of place did she later move to?) | ______ |
| 她最近开始做什么运动? (What exercise has she recently started doing?) | ______ |
| 她去过中国吗?是什么时候? (Has she been to China? When?) | ______ |
Reading Assessment
Read 陈先生's entry, then answer the comprehension questions. Pinyin support remains reduced, as in Chapters 1 through 4; rely on familiar characters and context.
理解问题 — Comprehension questions:
- 陈明以前住在哪儿?后来呢?
- 他刚搬家的时候觉得怎么样?后来怎么样了?
- 他最近的生活习惯有什么变化?
- 他为什么决定当老师?
Speaking Assessment
控制性练习 — Controlled practice: guided interview
With a partner, take turns asking and answering: 你现在的生活跟以前有什么不一样?你认识了什么新朋友?你搬过家吗?你最近开始做什么新的事情?
交际任务 — Communicative task: 我的生活变化
With a partner, take turns telling a connected account of your life and how it has changed. Include a self-introduction, at least one relationship description using 的 modification, at least one habit contrast using 以前/现在, at least one perfective 了 and one experiential 过, and at least one sequencing word (后来 or 然后). Ask your partner at least one follow-up question about their story.
独立练习 — Solo alternative
Record yourself giving a two-minute connected account of your life now and how it has changed, using at least eight connected sentences that draw on Chapters 1 through 4.
Writing Assessment
Write a connected entry of eight to twelve sentences titled 我的生活变化 for the exchange group's collection.
写作任务 — Writing task: Type your entry with Pinyin input if possible, or handwrite the characters you have already been assigned for handwriting. Your entry must include:
- An opening self-introduction, recycling Chapter 1 material (name, where you live or work, basic profile).
- At least one relationship description using 的 modification and an appropriate title or name (Chapter 2).
- At least one habit-and-change contrast using 以前 and 现在, marked with change-of-state 了 (Chapter 3).
- At least one …的时候 time anchor, placing an event at a specific period (Chapter 4).
- At least one perfective 了 and at least one experiential 过, used correctly and distinctly (Chapter 4).
- At least one sequencing word (后来 or 然后) connecting two stages of your account (Chapter 4).
- A closing sentence connecting your account to the present.
修改清单 — Editing checklist:
- All seven required elements are present and connected into one account, not a disconnected list of sentences.
- 不 and 没/没有 are each used correctly for their own negation function.
- 了 is used only for specific completed events or change of state, and 过 only for general life experience.
- 的 modification is used accurately for possession and description, not omitted where it is required.
- 后来 and 然后 are not confused with each other or overused in the same short entry.
- A Chinese period (。) ends each sentence, and commas (,) separate connected clauses.
Pronunciation and Literacy Check
This chapter introduces no new sounds and no new character set. Use the checklist below to confirm control of Unit I sound and literacy targets before moving on.
- Third-tone sandhi in connected phrases such as 我以前 (wǒ yǐqián) and 我很好 (wǒ hěn hǎo).
- Neutral tone in familiar words such as 朋友 (péngyou), 故事 (gùshi), and 时候 (shíhou).
- Clear distinction between perfective 了 and experiential 过 when reading your own writing aloud.
- Accurate reading of all Unit I recognition, typing, and scheduled handwriting characters without new unscheduled characters appearing in your own work.
Culture and Communication
When Mandarin speakers give a longer personal update in many contexts — to a friend group, a class, or a colleague — they commonly move through the account in a clear time order and often connect a personal change to the people around them, rather than focusing only on individual achievement. How much detail is shared about work, health, or personal routines, and how directly a change is framed as positive or difficult, varies by relationship, generation, and individual personality, so it is common to keep a life update warm and connective rather than purely factual.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Treating the whole entry as a list of separate facts: use topic chains, 的 modification, and sequencing words so that sentences connect into one account, not four unrelated chapters stapled together.
- Confusing 不 and 没/没有: use 不 for general, habitual, or future statements and 没/没有 for completed events, existence, or possession.
- Using 过 for a specific completed action, or 了 for a general life experience: keep the Chapter 4 distinction intact even when combining it with new material from earlier chapters.
- Dropping 的 in required modification: a possessive or descriptive relationship between a person and a noun usually still needs 的 outside of a few close, fixed relationships.
Chapter Summary
This chapter combined the systems from Chapters 1 through 4 into one integrated Unit I task. You reviewed self-introduction and paragraph expansion, relationship description with 的 modification, habit-and-change contrast with 不/没 negation, and personal narrative built from perfective 了, experiential 过, …的时候, 后来, and 然后. No major new system was introduced; the chapter verified that you can coordinate these systems together in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
