Young Boys Incorporated became a major organized heroin and cocaine enterprise in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Its structure, branding, recruitment of young sellers, and later federal prosecutions make it an important early node in the city’s modern narcotics history.
The Chambers Brothers Organization rose during the 1980s as a highly structured crack-cocaine network. Its emergence followed the weakening of YBI but should be understood as market succession rather than formal inheritance.
Former YBI leader Milton “Butch” Jones later led the Dog Pound during the 1990s. Separately, brothers Demetrius and Terry Flenory developed the Black Mafia Family from Detroit into a multistate cocaine enterprise.
